“While Mosaic never does wrong, this set is absolutely perfect. Three CDs of Andrew Hill, almost all of it previously unheard by the public. While these sessions probably sat in the vaults to lack of commercial viability at the time, they are every bit as good as Hill's contemporary Blue Note releases that have been released. Some of the lineups are chock full of heavy hitter sidemen- Sam Rivers, Lee Morgan, Woody Shaw, etc. Overall the set is a good indicator of the diversity of Hill's compositonal ideas in the late 60s. He is heard in large group settings, trio settings, and most amazingly working with a string quartet. I find the string quartet sessions to be the most remarkable on the set.” - Customer Review

Wes Montgomery performing his “West Coast Blues” in Hamburg in 1965 with an all-star European band (Johnny Griffin was living there long enough to qualify). Very cool to see Wes in an in-studio situation without an audience. He’s relaxed and smiling ear-to-ear and playing with the same effortless ease as he does on stage.

An All-Star Group Plays Wes Montgomery

Todd Barkan, the founder and manager of the legendary Keystone Korner and for the last 12 years until recently the guiding force at Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola at Jazz At Lincoln Center is producing a number of nights Keystone Korner Nights live at Iridium in New York City. From the inaugural night on January 2, 2013 dedicated to Wes Montgomery, here is an all-star group led by Jimmy Cobb with Harold Mabern, Peter Bernstein, Ray Drummond and Eric Alexander performing Wes’s “Road Song”.
