Ballads For Two

Limited Edition

1 CD -  $17.98

This exquisite set of ballad duets by trumpeter Chet Baker and vibist Wolfgang Lackerschmid was recorded in Stuttgart, Germany on January * & 9, 1979.. Now on CD for the first time, the first 7 tunes were issued briefly on LP on the Sandra label. Lackerschmid's "Double O" and an alternate take of "Why Shouldn't You Cry" with Chet switching to muted trumpet complete this beautiful session.

The Best of Late Period Chet Baker
I actually have all of this material, including the two never released. Tracks 1-7 were issued on CD on the German Inak label in 1986. I also have tracks 8 & 9 on a CD that was available only as part of a coffee table book called Chet Baker in Europe. Double-0 and take two of Why Shouldnt You Cry were listed on that CD as previously unreleased. Also, they show the recording dates for those two tracks as 1/8/1979. These recordings and the album Baker did with Lackerschmid called Welcome Back were, I felt among Bakers finest moments, ever. Simply gorgeous recordings. If you are a Chet Baker fan, this is a must have.
