Sounds Of Suspense
Life does have its surprises. As Marc Myers’s interveiw with Lalo Schifrin illustrates, a died-in-the-wool Argentine pianist and jazz arranger has his dreams come true when he is hired by Dizzy Gillespie for his small group and big band. A few years later, he becomes one of the most prolific and success film score composers with the theme from “Mission Impossible” being his best known and most inventive.
