Producer’s note:
The bulk of this material was originally recorded on 16″ acetate discs. With each tune, we have compared the existing disc and various tape transfers to bring the best possible sounding source to this set. As a result, the quality will vary from selection to selection.
I Got Rhythm from the final session of this set remained unissued until now because the engineer accidentally faded the performance during the statement of the first theme and quickly brought it back up again. Producer F. M. Scott III and Goodman had discussions in later years lamenting this technical flaw on a performance with which they were otherwise pleased. Since the goof is irrepairable, we believe that it should be made available this way rather than not at all.
